VILO SKY’S LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE – MANAGING TO BE DAD

  • 26th November 2019

  • WHITESPACE, KING’S STABLES ROAD, Edinburgh

Businesses who fail to offer better work/life balance for parents risk losing top talent to more enlightened competitors.
— The Millennial Dad at Work, DaddiLife

We were delighted to host Vilo Sky’s inaugural ‘Managing to be Dad’ conference at the beautiful Whitespace, Edinburgh. Our focus was dads. Why? Well we know that everyone benefits when dads have the choice to balance family and career. Dads become better able to manage their mental health. Children thrive from having close male role models. Women gain the support they need to progress their careers. And organisations profit from having a more engaged, valued and productive workforce.

The message was clear, organisations MUST take the lead in changing culture-wide attitudes to fathers in a childcare role if true gender equality is to be achieved.

Industry specialists from the Bank of England, Daddilife, Fathers Network Scotland, Family Friendly Working Scotland, Heineken, Morton Fraser, The Out of Depth Dad Chris McGuire and evolutionary biologist Dr. Mairi Macleod offered their expert views and provided tips for embedding best practice, inclusive workplaces.

Our comprehensive agenda covered:

  • The pressing need for equality and why we do not already have it

  • Research and statistics on the millennial approach to work and parenthood

  • The compelling economic value of gender equality

  • ‘The Out of Depth Dad’ – real life stories from a stay at home dad

  • The mental health benefits of a pro-fathering culture

  • Interactive workshops to discuss ideal working environments and how to make them happen

  • Panel Q&A
